Halloween Teaser from Young Ebenezer

Happy Halloween

Were you out trick or treating? No me neither, and with the weather so damp the kids stayed away this evening too. More sweets for me whoop whoo.

Young Ebenezer ~ Confronts the School Bully

I bring you a treat,
a Halloween story.
Of young Ebenezer
and his best friend young Rory.
I watch over the boys,
I am Grandfather Time,
and I’ll tell you this tale
in rhythm and rhyme.

It is All Hallows Eve,
and the kids in the schools
are getting excited
to go home, dress as ghouls.
There’ll be vampires and ghosts
with monsters galore,
stepping out on the streets,
to knock on your door.

‘Boing, Boing.’ I chime out
as Eb reaches our door.
‘Boing, Boing.’ Once again
as my hands have reached four.
The house it smells yummy,
Mum’s made a great feast
and like the Grinch in the film
Dad will carve the roast beast.

School bag and blazer
are thrown without care,
and land in a heap
at the base of the stair.
‘Go back, pick them up.’
His Dad’s strict command,
‘Or no treats for you,
no matter how much, you demand.’

Eb does as he’s told
so he won’t miss the treats.
Or his first Halloween,
with his mates on the streets.
Dinner is rushed
and fills up his tummy.
But there is still room for sweets
and all things that are yummy.

Now two streets away,
Halloween started early
for a naughty young lad,
his name – Jacob Marley.
He’s the naughtiest boy,
in the whole of the school,
and is often caught out,
breaking every rule.

Jacob Marley thinks nothing,
of stealing kids treats.
He’s an absolute terror,
when out on the streets.
A boy who is bad,
and never plays nice.
Of tormenting a child,
he never thinks twice.

His plot for the day,
to steal all the treats
that others collected
after walking the streets.
But today I am watching,
And he’s in for a surprise
let us hope we can change,
his ways by sunrise.

I am Grandfather Time
With magical powers
I can enter a clock
as it chimes out the hours.
My friend is a puppy
named Miss Ruby Heart,
and together we help
children make a new start.
