Halloween Teaser from Young Ebenezer

Young Eb Bully Teaser

Happy Halloween

Were you out trick or treating? No me neither, and with the weather so damp the kids stayed away this evening too. More sweets for me whoop whoo.

I do however have a treat for you. I am working on a new ‘Young Ebenezer’ story and below is a little teaser. I hope you enjoy it, I would love to know your thoughts leave me a comment below. Happy Reading.

Young Ebenezer ~ Confronts the School Bully

I bring you a treat,
a Halloween story.
Of young Ebenezer
and his best friend young Rory.
I watch over the boys,
I am Grandfather Time,
and I’ll tell you this tale
in rhythm and rhyme.

It is All Hallows Eve,
and the kids in the schools
are getting excited
to go home, dress as ghouls.
There’ll be vampires and ghosts
with monsters galore,
stepping out on the streets,
to knock on your door.

‘Boing, Boing.’ I chime out
as Eb reaches our door.
‘Boing, Boing.’ Once again
as my hands have reached four.
The house it smells yummy,
Mum’s made a great feast
and like the Grinch in the film
Dad will carve the roast beast.

School bag and blazer
are thrown without care,
and land in a heap
at the base of the stair.
‘Go back, pick them up.’
His Dad’s strict command,
‘Or no treats for you,
no matter how much, you demand.’

Eb does as he’s told
so he won’t miss the treats.
Or his first Halloween,
with his mates on the streets.
Dinner is rushed
and fills up his tummy.
But there is still room for sweets
and all things that are yummy.

Now two streets away,
Halloween started early
for a naughty young lad,
his name – Jacob Marley.
He’s the naughtiest boy,
in the whole of the school,
and is often caught out,
breaking every rule.

Jacob Marley thinks nothing,
of stealing kids treats.
He’s an absolute terror,
when out on the streets.
A boy who is bad,
and never plays nice.
Of tormenting a child,
he never thinks twice.

His plot for the day,
to steal all the treats
that others collected
after walking the streets.
But today I am watching,
And he’s in for a surprise
let us hope we can change,
his ways by sunrise.

I am Grandfather Time
With magical powers
I can enter a clock
as it chimes out the hours.
My friend is a puppy
named Miss Ruby Heart,
and together we help
children make a new start.

To be continued…

Thank you for visiting.

Children’s Book age 7 – 12 years

At the top of Craggle Hill, in a village named Appleworth, there lived a woman called Eartha and her two cats, Hazel and Wart.

Now, it was no secret to the community of Appleworth that Eartha practiced herbal medicine. The fact that she could actually do real magic was always kept secret from the world and only ever practiced behind closed doors. She was what you would call a natural witch. And natural witches, like Eartha, used the earth’s resources and energy to help people who needed it. All that Appleworth knew, was that Eartha provided people with cures and remedies she’d made from the herbs and plants in her garden. You could always catch her tending to her luscious herb beds or boiling up some new concoction in her cauldron. Her door was always open to help anyone who needed it. Or at least, that’s how it used to be.

One day, after a series of vandalism and taunting towards her craft, Eartha decided to close her doors to the village. They’d taken her well-meaning practice and twisted it into being dark and evil. She wasn’t sure what had happened, or why the town had suddenly turned against her, but there was nothing she could do or say.

As the months passed by and the villagers’ disapproval towards her skills became worse, so did the taunting. And one night, after a second fire attack, Eartha decided to take serious measures and took to the garden with a spade and began to dig.

Three and a half weeks later, after endless mud flinging and hours and hours of back-breaking hard work, she stood back and observed. She smiled. She was safe. Surrounding her property now was a twelve-foot deep and wide ditch. The only way in or out was via broom… Or so she thought.

On All Hallows’ Eve, Eartha’s broom is stolen right from under her nose. Who did it and how she doesn’t know. But the one thing she does know is she is furious and finally ready to teach the people of Appleworth a lesson in manners.

For a witch without her broom, is a very mad witch indeed.
