Young Ebenezer ~ Confronts the School Bully by Rose English

Happy Halloween to you all. As a special celebration Book 2 in the Young Ebenezer series is currently on a special Halloween Promo starting at just 99p or 99c for our dotcom friends. A children’s book, a story in verse.

‘A Halloween treat, much better than sweets.’

A time for candy and costumes,
pumpkins and ‘Trick or Treat’.
But beware of the bully
lurking just down the street.

Ebenezer is really excited! It’s his first Halloween to go out ‘Trick or Treating’. Jacob Marley is excited too, but this school bully plans to steal all the kids’ sweets. Can Eb and his friends, along with the magical clock Grandfather Time teach Jacob the error of his ways? Or is the boy doomed to a life of crime, just like his wicked father?

The story of ‘Ebenezer and the Bully’ is a magical rhyming tale of behaviour matters, and the importance of being kind. It’s a treat for families to share or for reading alone, aimed at children aged 8-12 years old. With characters loosely based around the Charles Dickens classic ‘A Christmas Carol’, you’ll meet the Ghost of Christmas Past – a golden red puppy named Miss Ruby Heart – along with the Grim Reaper who will surprise Jacob by revealing his future self.

Young Ebenezer Christmas Teaser

*Boing! Boing! Boing!

Grandfather Time,
chimes out loud and clear,
he’s telling us all,
Christmas soon will be here.
The fire is burning;
the room’s all aglow,
outside the snow’s falling,
so gentle and slow.

Many young boys and girls
are on their Playstations,
X-boxes, Nintendos,
throughout all the nation.
Yet one little fellow
is still not content,
to get even more presents,
is his main intent.

Now young Ebenezer,
is a naughty young lad,
not sharing with others,
he really is bad.
So Grandfather Time has
been watching him grow,
with a feeling of sadness
that is making him low.

It is time for the boy,
a lesson to learn,
that he has to be good,
for the presents to earn.
He must learn to share,
with the girls and the boys
and learn how to give
and not take others’ toys.

Well I hope you enjoyed these little teasers

Craggle Hill by E.A. Belle New Release

Craggle Hill Cover

Craggle Hill by E.A. Belle

Ebook: getbook.at/CraggleHill

Paperback: getbook.at/CraggleHillPaperback

Children’s Book age 7 – 12 years

At the top of Craggle Hill, in a village named Appleworth, there lived a woman called Eartha and her two cats, Hazel and Wart.

Now, it was no secret to the community of Appleworth that Eartha practiced herbal medicine. The fact that she could actually do real magic was always kept secret from the world and only ever practiced behind closed doors. She was what you would call a natural witch. And natural witches, like Eartha, used the earth’s resources and energy to help people who needed it. All that Appleworth knew, was that Eartha provided people with cures and remedies she’d made from the herbs and plants in her garden. You could always catch her tending to her luscious herb beds or boiling up some new concoction in her cauldron. Her door was always open to help anyone who needed it. Or at least, that’s how it used to be.

One day, after a series of vandalism and taunting towards her craft, Eartha decided to close her doors to the village. They’d taken her well-meaning practice and twisted it into being dark and evil. She wasn’t sure what had happened, or why the town had suddenly turned against her, but there was nothing she could do or say.

As the months passed by and the villagers’ disapproval towards her skills became worse, so did the taunting. And one night, after a second fire attack, Eartha decided to take serious measures and took to the garden with a spade and began to dig.

Three and a half weeks later, after endless mud flinging and hours and hours of back-breaking hard work, she stood back and observed. She smiled. She was safe. Surrounding her property now was a twelve-foot deep and wide ditch. The only way in or out was via broom… Or so she thought.

On All Hallows’ Eve, Eartha’s broom is stolen right from under her nose. Who did it and how she doesn’t know. But the one thing she does know is she is furious and finally ready to teach the people of Appleworth a lesson in manners.

For a witch without her broom, is a very mad witch indeed.

13 Goodreads ‘My Imaginary Menagerie’

My Imaginary Menagerie: Starring Debra the ZebraMy Imaginary Menagerie: Starring Debra the Zebra by Marian Barker

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Book 13 of my Goodreads Reading Challenge.

What a wonderful fun read. I bought and read this to my sisters grandchildren and they adored it. So beautifully rhyming it was really easy for them to remember the names of the characters in each poem.

Of course the star was Debra the Zebra having two poems to herself. I even managed to find a Debra for the children that looked like the one on the book cover. We all liked Brian the Lion, Matt the Bat and a favourite was Russell the Mussel.

A book to share with the whole family, for kids of all ages and the young at heart like myself.

Teddy, I and the children loved this book. Happy Reading 🙂

12 Goodreads ‘M.I.C.E. and the Stone’

M.I.C.E. and the StoneM.I.C.E. and the Stone by William Coniston

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Book 12 of my Goodreads Challenge 2018

This is a truly enjoyable read I would say it would be loved by boys and girls who were competent readers or those in secondary education upwards. Definitely not for children of a sensitive nature as there are some rather frightening scenes in the story and some real evil characters.

The story is about a brother and sister who are given a special stone by their Grandpa which has been passed down through the generations. The stone has special powers and allows the children to hear and communicate with animals specifically a secret organisation, M.I.C.E. ‘Mammals In Co-operation Everywhere’ (I really don’t know why but I had trouble trying to remember that and had to occasionally refer back a few pages.)

Olly and Tilly make some unusual new friends Jess a dog, Liam & Ian some very technically minded mice, Aristotle the badger and several more. The children and animals all come together to stop evil namely Odric and Botwulf who are both rather sinister creatures. Botwulf will stop at nothing to retrieve the stone and raise his master. Hence some very scary parts of the book.

Set around the ancient British coastline of Whitby & north Yorkshire with it’s stormy seas and sinister cliff faces this book makes for an eerie read. Worth checking out.

Young Ebenezer
A New Christmas Carol

This story is a seasonal treat, a modern, lyrical re-telling of the Charles Dickens classic – ‘A Christmas Carol.’

The book is specially designed for families to share during the Holiday Season, or for young competent readers to try for themselves. This book is a beautiful gift to treasure, with full colour images on every page.

Eb is a spoilt child who really is not one for caring, and he certainly hates sharing. He is watched over by a very special guardian – the family’s ancient longcase clock, who is bestowed with magic. His name is Grandfather Time.

On Christmas Eve Grandfather Time decides he must teach the boy a lesson. So he calls upon his friends; the Ghosts of Past, Present and Future and with lessons to learn he brings forth the first tutor – a little golden-red King Charles spaniel, called Miss Ruby Heart.

Will this unlikely pair be able to teach the boy the error of his ways? Or will he be doomed to be a scruffy, lonely teenager stuck forever in his own little world?

It already has an Amazon 5* review
