Day 5 #ChristmasCountdown with @UKIndieLitFest1

Hello Weekend & Happy Saturday

Today we would like to introduce you to Roger Gordon International  Indie Author

Click HERE to visit Roger’s website

About Roger

Roger Gordon is a retired university professor and administrator. He grew up during the 1940s–1960s in Sheffield, England, where he obtained his B.Sc. and Ph.D in Zoology.
In 1969, he immigrated to Canada, where he carried out research and taught at three universities: Simon Fraser University (BC), Memorial University of Newfoundland, and the University of Prince Edward Island, where he served a nine-year term as Dean of Science.
Roger was highly regarded within the international scientific community, having published approximately 60 scientific articles on the biological control of insect pests, and served as Editor of a leading scientific journal.

Throughout his adult life, Roger has struggled with occasional bouts of depression. Each of his parents were afflicted with mental illnesses that went undiagnosed for many years. Although the atmosphere in his Sheffield home became an unhealthy mix of marital strife, blame, and rejection, Roger was able to re-set his compass after moving to Canada. In looking back on his childhood, Roger has come to understand that compassion and forgiveness are more important than understanding in enabling one to move forward.

Roger is enjoying his retirement in Stratford, Prince Edward Island, with his wife Alison and their Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. He enjoys gardening, writing, watching football games (not “soccer”—Go Sheffield Wednesday!) and following the popular British soap opera, “Coronation Street.” Both of Roger’s children and their spouses live nearby, allowing him to spend as much time as he wishes with his three grandchildren.

#ChristmasCountdown Memoir

‘Starting to Frame’

Growing up during the 1940s – 1960s in Sheffield, England, Roger Gordon is caught in a drama in
which his once close-knit family begins to fragment. When his parents’ marriage implodes, Roger is forced to confront stigmas of the day, including divorce, marital in fidelity, and mental illness. Cast against news events of the day, using humour to temper the darker elements of Roger’s background, Starting to Frame is a story about the futility of family feuding, the need to be loved, and the imperative to give more attention to mental illness. It also shows the power of reconciliation and forgiveness.

Day 1 #ChristmasCountdown with @UKIndieLitFest1

Well Happy December 1st and Welcome to the #ChristmasCountdown

I am currently helping out my friends at UK Indie Literary Festival 2016 to spread the word of their very 1st FREE Literary Festival. It is very difficult for many Independent Authors and publishers to be part of any Book Fair or Festival so some of my Yorkshire Friends have decided to create their own.
